Dental Implants Salem, OR |
There are so many high quality options for tooth replacement today that it can sometimes be overwhelming to consider how you ought to replace your tooth. Which option provides the best results and long term benefits for you? We are happy to clear up this question with a definite and straightforward answer – dental implants offer the best tooth replacement option on the market today.
Why are dental implants the best tooth replacement option? Because when they replace a tooth or teeth they manage to replace it/them in every important aspect, from look to function.
The Benefits of Dental ImplantsAll tooth replacement options replace a tooth in appearance. It’s really important to replace a tooth for the appearance. Those who have suffered from tooth loss often describe feelings of embarrassment over their smile and smile less because of it. Dental implants offer patients the foundation to replace anywhere from one tooth to a full arch of teeth.
Dental implants replace teeth in more than just appearance. Removable prosthetics often must be taken out in order to eat, and dentures limit you to the kinds of foods that you can chew. Dental implants allow you to eat anything you would with your natural teeth with confidence.
Taking care of a dental implant is as easy as taking care of your natural teeth. Just brush and floss them as your normally would. With other prosthetics special care instructions can make hygiene a belabored process with lots of extra tools and requirements.
Finally, the best part about implants is their ability to promote a healthy mouth! Dental implants stimulate the bone in the jaw preventing recession and further tooth loss.
The ProcedureThe process of having a dental implant placed may take several visits to our office. We start by taking a mold of the teeth we wish to replace, or the area where the implants will eventually go. We will send this mold to our state-of-the-art dental lab so that they can fabricate a crown, bridge, or full arch that will fit perfectly in your mouth.
Once the mold has been taken we will prepare the site by making an incision on the gum line in order to access the jawbone. We will use a drill to make a small hole in the jawbone and place the post of the implant into the jaw. The post is made of titanium, which is a biocompatible material, and will eventually fuse to your jaw. Once the post is placed, we will cap it and allow several months for recovery.
Recovery time for dental implants can take anywhere from 4 to 12 months, depending on the condition of the mouth and the amount of implants placed. Once fully recovered you will come back to our office and have the finishing work done. The crown will be placed on the implant and the procedure finished.
We will make you aware of all post-procedure care and recommendations as necessary.
