What are the benefits of Fluoride? What are their Myths and Facts?Fluoride is a mineral protecting teeth from decaying by strengthening the enamel. Fluoride is in dental supplies and public water. To know the right dental supply, you should visit the dentist who will help determine the right one for you. After a thorough dental check-up and examination, the dentist is in a position to know the condition of your teeth.

Benefits of Fluoride

Fluoride helps you from having tooth decay and so you will not have cavities. Fluoride ensures that there is direct contact with teeth and it protects developing teeth still underneath the gum and they do not get cavities. The fluoride assists in the prevention of bacterial overgrowth by lowering the PH level in the mouth and it becomes acidic, bacteria are not able to live in acidic areas. The fluorapatite mineral plays a major role in the mineralization of teeth. This is chemical hardening which prevents tooth breakdown.

Myths about Fluoride

The first myth is that it is dangerous for children, instead, it helps in strengthening the enamel and so the teeth cannot decay. The other myth is that fluoride is not natural, instead, fluoride is found in rocks, minerals, and foods it is in public water supplies. Fluoridated water doesn't work is another myth this is not true since this water helps strengthen the teeth and prevents future decay.

The other myth is that fluoride is not safe, instead research over past years shows that fluoride does not cause diseases such as cancer, kidney problems, or heart diseases.
