 Pregnancy-related gingivitis is incredibly common. Many pregnant women note an increase in bleeding of the gums during this time due to a spike in their hormones. Fortunately, there are ways that you can manage bleeding gums during pregnancy to stay healthy. Maintain a Good Oral Hygiene RoutineMake dental health one of your top priorities during your pregnancy. Brush thoroughly at least twice a day, although if bleeding is a problem, a gentler approach may be recommended. Choose a soft-bristled toothbrush, and always use a fluoridated toothpaste. Rinsing with an alcohol-free, fluoridated mouthwash might also be a good idea.Flossing is also critical during pregnancy, although this may be the time your gums are more likely to bleed. Don't put off treatment because of your pregnancy, as failure to treat a dental issue might actually have negative effects on your health.
