![]() For those who love to travel, you may be familiar with the phrase traveler's breath. However, do you know what it actually is? Traveler's breath is when you travel and are not able to care for your mouth the way you would at home.
Typically, it involves you going on a plane, then not being able to brush following any meal you consume. This leaves you with bad breath that can be hard to get rid of until you get to your destination. What Causes Traveler's Breath? There are two things that usually lead to traveler's breath. The first is eating while en route to your destination, but not being able to brush right away. The second is the increase of foods that are not very good for you while you travel. Both of these issues can leave you with breath that may turn others away.Getting to your destination and brushing can help to some degree, but it will only help so much. What you need to do is make sure that you go back to eating healthy foods that do not cause bad breath. Until you get past the traveler's breath, make sure you eat foods that help bypass the bad breath that others may have to endure. This includes things like chewing on a sprig of parsley, eating a bit of mint, chewing up raw produce when you want a snack, and eating some dairy foods to help protect your teeth. If you regularly travel, make sure that at your next opportunity, you come in and see us. We can go through and clean and examine your mouth.
