From the foods you eat, to the beverages you drink, to the activities you take part in, to the medications you take, some of them simply do a number on your teeth.
What May Be Causing Your Tooth Discoloration
Some common foods that stain your teeth include citrus fruits, beets, pomegranates, and most types of berries. They have strong pigments, and can leave your teeth feeling the brunt of their effects.Common beverages that can be blamed for tooth discoloration include red and white wine, all types of tea, even clear varieties, soda, and coffee. These each have tannins that can leave your teeth worse for the drink.
Some activities that could discolor your teeth include chewing tobacco, smoking, and aging, not that you can do much about getting older. They stain your teeth in ways that are not always able to be fixed.
Medications that commonly stain your teeth include tetracycline (either direct use, or having been used by the mother during pregnancy), doxycycline, and ACE inhibitors, and a lot of antihistamines all discolor your teeth. Typically, these medications can be worked around, so if you must take them, find out which have the lowest chances of discoloring your teeth.
