Are You a Good Tooth Fairy?

Posted on 6/30/2016 by Fairmount Dental Center
A young boy that has lost his tooth! The Tooth Fairy is a great incentive for your kids to care for their teeth, and for many parents, the Tooth Fairy serves as a motivational tool for a visit to the dentist.

For that reason, it is important that when your child does lose a tooth that the Tooth Fairy makes a good impression. By following a few simple tips, you can ensure that you are a good Tooth Fairy.

Make Sure Your Child is Asleep
To ensure that your child is asleep, wait for at least an hour before you try to remove the tooth from his room. After an hour, your child should be in a deep sleep, so you won't need to worry about being caught.

Discourage an Under the Pillow Placement

Rather than having your children put their teeth under their pillows at night, create a special place where they can put the tooth for the Tooth Fairy to get it.

This will make it easier for you to snag it undetected. Make a project out of creating this special place, such as a small box that you both decorate together. Get as creative as you want!

Don't Get Crazy with Rewards
Do you think that you need to leave $5 or $10 for your child's missing tooth? Think again. In most cases, the Tooth Fairy will leave less than a dollar.

You should also consider that your child will talk to his friends about the Tooth Fairy, and it may cause other kids to question why they only received a quarter if their friends receiving twenties. If you want to do something special, use half dollar pieces rather than two quarters.

Remember that you've only got a couple of years to take on the role of the Tooth Fairy, so follow these tips to make them count.

Please contact us today if you have any questions about your child's oral health.
