Don't let the bleeding discourage you or cause you to stop. As long as you aren't flossing too hard, this is actually the best thing that you can do to keep your gums free of harmful plaque and bacteria.

During pregnancy it is especially important that you visit your dentist regularly. Regular cleanings will keep bacteria and plaque levels under control in your mouth. This can minimize the swelling in your gums, which can help to keep bleeding under control.
In addition to preventive treatment, you should be sure to see your dentist for any dental problems that might arise. Don't put off treatment because of your pregnancy, as failure to treat a dental issue might actually have negative effects on your health. There are certain local anesthetics that have been proven safe to use during pregnancy.
